Living Castles

There is a project called Living Castles, building a network of 7 castles in Croatia and our neighbor country Slovenia. The project is mostly funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The project partners invested in the enhancement of their heritage presentation. It’s mostly through digital technology, such as virtual reality and 3D mapping. Without a doubt, it all adds to a more spectacular experience for a visitor. What I love most is the fact that together, they’re building a network. They’re creating a route that could trigger us to visit the seven castles.

The castles included in the Living Castles network are Veliki Tabor, Oršić castle in Stubica, Čakovec and Varaždin castle in Croatia. In Slovenia, it’s  Celje, Rakičan and Ptuj castle. Learn more by listening to the podcast or continue reading:

Wonders of Rogoznica

The new podcast episode is dedicated to my favorite town on the Croatian coast. It’s Rogoznica. Some call it the heart of Dalmatia.

It’s a rather new nickname to be fair. I started hearing it only recently. However, it’s a nickname that suits it well. The cape Punta Planka in the wider Rogoznica area is the place where the North and South Adriatic meet and clash, sometimes visibly to the naked eye. It’s also a safe harbour and a place of an iconic power, if you ask me, at least. It’s a heart as a center, a heart as a guardian of life, and the life-pumping heart due to all the peculiar energy of the place. Scroll down to continue reading or listen to the episode:

It’s my favorite town because I’ve been spending my summers there since I was a kid. It is there where I first decided that I was going to be a researcher of the paranormal when I grew up. I’m still not quite there yet, but there’s still time. Hey, to become a researcher of the paranormal, not to grow up! It’s too late for that:)

Shout Out – Perunfest

I decided to record this episode after spending most of the weekend at Perunfest. I hope to spread the word about this festival of fantasy, fairy tales, and forgotten folk believes. Usually, this festival takes place in the last days of May/first days of June. This year, that wasn’t possible due to the Covid pandemic. I know this reason is self-understanding at the moment, but I am emphasizing this because I like to imagine someone listening to this episode a few years from now without a single clue why would anyone postpone a festival unless it has something to do with the weather 🙂

The weather forecast for the Perunfest weekend wasn’t perfect either. But I guess the organizers decided to risk it since the main topic was creatures from the local folklore connected to – thunderstorms. You might say it was a good test of whether or not the festival would please them.

1StarCroatia – Churches

In another episode of 1 Star Croatia, we are going through some funny reviews that real travelers have left online. This episode is all about churches. I would like to thank Google Places, for being THE place for expressing dissatisfaction, although TripAdvisor hasn’t disappointed either. I’ve been amusing myself reading about Croatian churches and I’m about to share the amusement with you.
